EMS Team -
It is common for the EMS Duty Officer or EMS Quality Assurance Office to contact me when an incident warrants follow-up attention. With our call volume, this is to be expected as part of any program focused on delivering quality service. You have all heard me say, that every call is a learning call.
Today however, the contact was a bit less common. Just as I was clearing church this morning, I was alerted regarding a mutual aid call managed by A715. The EMS Duty Officer gave me a detailed briefing on just how well EMT Toni-Ann Wiggan (AIDE) and FF Terence Mokosso (DR) handled a challenging, critical patient. The PG medic had declined to join the unit in transporting the patient. The WAH Charge Nurse had alerted the EMS Duty Officer. Captain Ty Dement responded to the WAH and checked on the patient and spoke with the charge nurse. He then met with our Crew in quarters. These types of calls always leave the crew a bit unsettled so I also met with the Crew to offer reassurance.
The Charge Nurse and the EMS Duty Officer both went out of their way to check on our crew and offer detailed compliments on how they managed a very ill patient. The EMS Duty Officer expressed that the patient was only alive still, because of the diligence of the A715 crew.
Please join me in complimenting EMT Wiggan and FF Mokosso for their fine performance. Good EMTs are always critically assessing their own performance, I was grateful to Captain Dement for taking the time to debrief our team in such a positive and professional manner. Our personnel consistently perform to this level and I am remarkably proud of our entire program. But, Toni-Ann and Terence exemplified what our program is all about today and represented us all very well.
Thank you - Carry on.
Tami
