Engine Co went for warranty work today. Recirculating line knob fixed. #1 discharge temporarily repaired- drilled out and replaced cotter pins with bolts and parts ordered for proper fix. E1 door had already been fixed but he took another look at it to make sure it was good. Locks working properly. Over-head cab lights and Officer map light will not be addressed until PM. Water can and 50' of 1 1/2" picked up from small tools. 1 1/2" put back in officer's pack. |
Good afternoon Chief,
We obviously did not make 4/24 and I have been off until today.
The pipe is back on, but the front intake swivel seals we expected have not shown up yet. I currently do not have an ETA on those parts but I hope to have an update from our parts dept soon.
When I was listening to this unit run I could hear an exhaust leak under load. The #2 exhaust gasket had blown out. He is in the process of reassembling that now. Once her get her up and running I will QC the chassis and the rest of the dirty side stuff.
As soon as I can get a pars ETA I will update you again. I am hoping that will be tomorrow.

Good morning Chief Ryman,
Here’s the update you asked for.
We didn’t make the 10th because the tech that was working on it had to quarantine.
He is back to work now and is moving things along nicely.
He was in the middle of repairing some pump valves when he had to quarantine and due to the complexity of the plumbing arrangement Pierce used (it is bad) I didn’t want another tech to try to figure out how to get it back together.
Currently he is working on reassembling the foam system after repair and will be moving to removal of the front intake piping. This piping had a hole rubbed through it and would not have drafted well, if at all.
Pierce didn’t make this job easy either, but we will get it apart and we expect that we can have it repaired.
I can’t speak for the welding shop we use to repair things like this, but they usually turn things around in a couple days. When it come to piping that can be pressurized I like to make sure it gets repaired and pressure checked rather than just weld it up here at the shop.
My hope is to have the unit back in quarters by Friday 4/24

A715 cot was repaired by Stryker on Thursday. Cot was tested on Friday and all issues were no longer present. The Tech said that the problem was caused by oil build up in the front end xframe half shells. He added that no lubricant is needed. A715B (M715) IV poles was ordered and will be replaced next week. The problem with the pole was it is bent and the locking mechanism was stripped.

Due to the A715 cot needing the more serious service, please switch it with a manual cot at the start of the shift. Stryker should be bring a loner cot. New appliance added to T715 Inventory. A 3 1/2" Female to 2 1/2" Male adapter has been placed in the storage area at the base of the aerial where the Ladder belts and additional tips are kept. This will allow you to hook a gated wye onto the end of the waterway. Not an everyday use obviously but just a tool for the toolbox.

BVFD Team -
Please join me in congratulating EMT Ahshante Branch on becoming our latest Driver for Ambulance 715!!
Ahshante joined the BVFD in November of 2016 and has been taking training classes non-stop to earn her status as EMT in Charge and now as an Emergency EMS Driver. Last October, Ahshante completed EVOC, then began working through the BVFD cognitive and practical examinations (on our Ambulance, emergency laws, area streets, and hospital running routes). The final training phase required her to demonstrate proficiency driving on numerous emergency calls under the evaluation of an experienced Driver. Ahshante drove on a wide variety of emergency calls, including hospital transports to meet the final requirements and earn Emergency Driver status. The BVFD salutes EMT Branch’s hard work and dedication.
As you can imagine, her timing is particularly good as we definitely need drivers to help during this pandemic. We salute EMT Branch for her dedication and commitment to service.
Chief Ryman and I salute all of the BVFD personnel staffing during this challenging time. Keep up the good work!
