T715 swapped out at CMF for RAT1 (23's old mid-mount) No other reserve aerials were available/in-service. Hopefully we can make use of the time we have with this unit to check off anyone who isn't a mid-mount driver with the rumored county's multiple mid-mount purchase in the future.
MECHANICAL NOTES
Emergency Repairs were made at CMF today prior to switching over, minor defects remain and need repaired in station:
1. Major air leak found in driver side rear air brake chamber, chamber was rusted out, replaced/repaired by CMF and now unit holds air appropriately.
2. Minor - 3 light bulbs are out: we received replacement bulbs that still need to be installed (we cleared CMF at 1720hrs): two rear spots and the driver's side rear outrigger spot (bulbs will be placed in the captains office).
3. Aerial Stowing Issue - this aerial is temperamental and has a narrow range in which the computer will allow the aerial to bed. CMF had to troubleshoot and check the aerial and eventually applied duct tape to the turn table and chassis to more accurately mark that range, the apparatus will chirp when you are aligned properly. Do not go by the red arrows on the cab/turn table.
4. Left to Right aerial movement, even on "turtle", is extremely sensitive; feather accordingly.
5. Electric controller Left to right movement of the ladder pipe nozzle does not function, a small wrench attached to the nozzle can be used to aim the nozzle but takes a while to do. We can probably find a more efficient tool for this (socket wrench). All other functions work appropriately.
6. Stokes basket on aerial is being temporarily held in by cotter pins, it would be prudent to try and acquire better locking pins for long term use.
EQUIPMENT NOTES
Only equipment NOT switched over to RAT1 from T715:
1. Ground Ladders
2. 14' fiberglass pike pole
3. one headset and a traffic safety vest (left in plastic bin in EMS compt on T715)
The following equipment will not fit as currently laid out and is in the tool shop under the desk at STA15:
Vent Saw from turn table
C1 and C2 SCBA
Spare Headset
Shout out to Ernie Krouse and Steve Wolf at CMF for dropping what they were doing to make sure we got this thing on the road as quickly as possible despite the problems we encountered all day.
