Another EMS Advancement - EMT Mikayla G. Bechtel to Aide Status

BVFD Team -

The BVFD is proud to announce the latest Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to earn Officer in Charge (OIC) status on our Ambulance. Congratulations to EMT Mikayla G. Bechtel, who joined the BVFD in October of 2017.

EMT Bechtel has successfully completed over fifteen training programs, including:

  • Maryland Emergency Medical Technician Certification
  • Hazardous Materials - First Responder Operations
  • Protective Envelope & Foam
  • NIMS IS100 Incident Command System
  • NIMS IS200 Federal Disaster Worker
  • NIMS IS700 National Incident Management System
  • NIMS IS800 National Response Plan
  • EEO/AA and the Law
  • Cultural Diversity
  • Blood Borne Pathogens
  • Radio Operations
  • MOSH Training
  • MDC Operations
  • Firehouse Statistical Reporting
  • eMEDS Patient Care Reporting

Still, before taking command of a BVFD Ambulance, EMT Bechtel had to successfully complete a series of comprehensive in-house written and practical examinations. This detailed process is designed to demonstrate an EMT’s knowledge and ability to be in charge of an Ambulance and crew in any situation.

Please join us in congratulating EMT Bechtel.  This represents our tenth EMS advancement in recent months - thanks to EVERYONE helping with training and evals, staffing and supporting the Team!

EMT Branch, Samels, Boss-Cole, Wiggan and Austin are working towards Aide status currently.  Please keep working to help team members advance.

Thanks for all you do each week to keep us growing and better serving our community.

Tami
