The BVFD proudly announces the advancement of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Myles Wong to Charge Status on Ambulance 715..
EMT Wong joined the BVFD during a global pandemic in June of 2020. Over the past 13 months he has completed multiple specialized training programs to ensure he possesses all required skills:
- Maryland Emergency Medical Technician Course
- Hazardous Materials - First Responder Operations
- Protective Envelope & Foam
- NIMS IS100 Incident Command System
- NIMS IS700 National Incident Management System
- Blood Borne Pathogens
- Radio Operations
- MDC Operations
- eMEDS Patient Care Reporting
- Firehouse Statistical Reporting
- EEO/AA and the Law
- Cultural Diversity
Even after all of the academy training, EMT Wong completed many steps before taking command of a BVFD Ambulance. EMT Wong successfully completed a series of comprehensive written and practical in-station examinations. After completing all tests, EMT Wong rode “Charge” under the evaluation of an experienced Charge EMT for a series of evaluation calls. This process is designed to allow the EMT to demonstrate knowledge and ability in the field, before being permitted to be in charge of an Ambulance and crew in any situation.
The BVFD congratulates EMT Wong for completing this challenging process and earning Charge status during a pandemic! Your dedication to serving our community is greatly appreciated.
We have a number of EMTs working towards Aide status currently, please continue to help them advance.

The front line Pierce Engine was taken to CMF this morning for warranty work. We switched into E715B Pierce. E715B had a coolant hose damaged tonight by contact with the drive line. CMF was contacted and they will be out tomorrow AM (A shift) to fix or replace the line. We switched into a Crimson with the basics in hopes of returning back to E715B after the line is fixed. There are two switch over lists. The first one is the equipment moved from the E715 Pierce to E715B. The second switch over list is the equipment that REMAINS on the crimson and not what was moved from E715B to the crimson. This was done for simplicity due to the lack of items that came with the crimson. Only the equipment (mostly hose) that is listed should remain on the Crimson. The lists will be in the Captains office and saved on the right computer desk top. Contact Wooden or Adams with any questions. | |
