	Engine would not go into Drive again this morning. Placed Eng in Drive (it registered on control panel going into drive however transmission did not engage into drive). Engine sat without starting for over 7 hours prior to this incident. When this situation occurs it takes over a minute for it to engage going into drive (almost as if it needs to build air pressure somewhere). Reverse wouldn't work either. 45 seconds into several shift attempts a severe winding up grinding noise could be heard while in drive. Placed in neutral let sit for 30 more seconds and Engine finally engaged into drive. All gauges check out as normal. CMF unable to create most likely due to the Engine not sitting for several hours upon trial. Recommendation next time it occurs is placing Engine into high idle immediately to see if that speeds up the process. For now keeping Pierce in service to collect more data until otherwise advised.

E715B-not shifting into gear this am

Earlier in the shift we were going out on the Air and Engine (E715B) did not immediately shift into gear. It hesitated for about a minute, and after going through a sequence of steps (putting it in reverse and drive, engaging and disengaging brake) it finally went into drive. The issue seemed to have resolved itself through out the shift since we went on several calls with out any incident or hint of it having any issues again. 

This morning we were dispatched on a call at 0430 and it happened again. We went through the same steps and it finally shifted into gear with in the minute. After the call MFF Owens tilted the cab to see if there was anything obvious and nothing was found, or stood out. He has written it up and obviously it is something that needs to be assessed. E715 (Crimson) was dropped off yesterday for brake issues so It was not readily available for us to switch into. At this time, E715B (Pierce) is still in service as it seems to be engaging normally. My recommendation is for it to be addressed first thing this morning.

Because of the tak 4 in the front end that is a longer than normal project so in order to avoid the unit sitting at CMF over the long weekend the plan is to pull it on Tuesday and swtich into RRS1 pending anything else happening.
