Defect Description: During checkout, it was noted that the left piston on the aerial ladder was shifting once it reached its maximum angle while raising. when it lowered it would shift again. Only the left piston was doing this, not the right. upon further inspection it was noted that the left piston was close to rubbing on the lower pivot point. Also at the top where the piston is connected, it seems to have shifted. the gap is unequal.

Truck Driver Eval Calls- FF3 Flores

All-

I am pleased to announce that Mr. Flores has been cleared to start his evaluated emergency driving calls on Truck 715.

He is more than welcome to drive any of the assigned officers of masters for calls (I would prefer he doesn't drive detailed officers, specifically out of battalion floats, if possible), however there still needs to be a qualified driver on the unit. He has his eval forms with him.

Thanks,

BVFD Team -

The BVFD proudly announces the advancement of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Rebeca Galisteo who has now earned Officer in Charge (OIC) status on Ambulance 715.

Congratulations to EMS Galisteo who joined the BVFD in November of 2018 and has been balancing family and career demands while successfully completing over a dozen public safety training programs, including:

  • Maryland Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Course
  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
  • Hazardous Materials - First Responder Operations
  • Protective Envelope & Foam
  • NIMS IS100 Incident Command System

  • EEO/AA and the Law
  • Cultural Diversity
  • Blood Borne Pathogens
  • Radio Operations
  • MOSH Training
  • MDC Operations
  • eMEDS Patient Care Reporting

After completing all tests, EMT Galisteo rode “Charge” under the evaluation of an experienced Charge EMT for a series of evaluation calls. The BVFD congratulates EMT Galisteo for completing this rigorous process and earning Charge status.  Your dedication to serving our community is greatly appreciated.

One more Aide advancement will be announced this week, now that the MFRI, IECS log jam has cleared.

New Locker Install **Action required**

All,

We have been informed that the locker replacements are set to be installed and will begin work Nov 18th 2019

Action required:
  1. Remove all items from your locker by November 17th
  2. Store in a bin or personal bag (we will determine a place to store these bins/bags soon) My suggestion is to maintain a detail bag ready and store the rest...
  3. We will be able to utilize the Showers, toilets sink while they remove and install the new lockers
  4. Be advised that the lockers will be slightly narrower but taller for personnel that had custom made shelves
  5. Once complete the configuration will change and will work on not having shift personnel right next to each other
Please be patient during this transition as it may take about a week to complete. Thank you

There are 3 large (bigger than M size) oxygen cylinders in the SCBA room for the petrogen. One of them should be close to finished. They are fair game for additional training. There are also 3 10 ft pieces of heavy steel (1 outside and 2 in front of E715B), and some black heating pipe that can be cut. All of the above is fair game. The cylinders will likely be picked up towards the end of the week. There are also 2 gas cans by the basketball hoop outside for fuel.

There is also an impalement propr and rebar in front of the engine. Feel free to utilize, but please save some rebar for other BVFD personnel I need to get through it.
