Small Tools has ordered these batteries (two type 'A23' batteries per controller).

You may want to check the controller at your respective stations and verify operation.  If batteries are needed, enter a Small Tools defect, please.

We are still Diagnosing the issue. Tech has run a pressure test on the steering box and pump. Now he's checking all the steering shaft joints.

T715 has returned from having Kingpins replaced. The driver from station 15 stated he felt the truck was still not correct. Crew Chief Dean and myself have driven and agreed. We will need to keep it out and do more diagnosis . Appears to be a pressure issue with Pump or internal leak in the steering box.  Will give you up date Monday after noon

Sorry for the delay.

New Rescue Squad 715 Progress

All-

I am pleased to announce that the construction process officially began on the new squad last week (the cutting of the metal for the cab).

We received the first round of pictures this morning, documenting the beginning of the cab weld process. Although the pictures do not necessarily look extensive, this is a major step in the forward movement of the project on its timeline. Periodic updates will be available throughout the process at the link below.

Got some good news  and some bad . Good news is we have finished with the under cab  insulation.  Bad news while looking over the defect list from AES , We didn’t like the response on the defect below. And  rechecked the King pins and front end out . We have found the right side upper king pin bussing to be bad.

To get the truck back faster we will be having RS replace the king pins. If it returns to AES this will only delay the return further.

Your truck will  be dropped off this afternoon and kept in side of RS. They will start first thing in the morning , with ETA of late tomorrow . This will make all repairs complete.

Defect # 90982

Entry Date: 1/29/2019 Status:

Priority: Out of Service

Steering/bouncing in front end continues to be an issue in T715. Bouncing seems to have gotten a

little better but when it does bounce on a turn, it feels like you momentarily lose the ability to steer

the apparatus. You can literally feel it in the steering wheel when the momentum comes back

down and you regain steering. It is very difficult to feel this issue during routine driving.

I spoke to Mr. Bizjack in person about this issue before the DOT/PM. What he said about the

Kingpin being the possible issue explained exactly what we are feeling- steering is responsive

when the weight of the apparatus is on the suspension but not responsive when the weight is off

the suspension. Checked front suspension and kingpins with no play, no problem found while road testing unit.

There was a delay from AES hag on T715. Jeff gave a ETA of late today. We will need to address the under cab insulation. Need to install   Aluminum studs ( weld on )   and extruded metal to retain the insulation.  This is the fix we use on all engine. Other fix just don’t last. This is not a big deal the hardest part is removing the old glue. I have a tech ready to start on it as soon as it arrives.

Best guess ETA to return to service is Friday

EMS Advancement - EMT Toni Ann Wiggan to Driver Status

BVFD Team -

Congratulations to EMT Toni Ann Wiggan, our latest Emergency Medical Technician to earn Emergency Driver Status on our Ambulance and Medic Unit.

EMT Wiggan joined the BVFD in August of 2017 and has been taking training classes non-stop to earn her status as EMT in Charge and now as an Emergency Driver.  Most recently, EMT Wiggan completed the County's comprehensive Emergency Vehicle Operators Course at the Training Academy.

EMT Wiggan worked through the BVFD cognitive and practical examinations (on our Ambulance, emergency laws, area streets, and hospital running routes). The final training phase requires a candidate to demonstrate proficiency driving on numerous emergency calls under the evaluation of a trained/experienced Ambulance Driver.

EMT Wiggan drove on a wide variety of emergency calls, including hospital transports to meet the final requirements and earn Emergency Driver status this evening. The BVFD salutes EMT Wiggan’s hard work and dedication.

Thank you for all you do each week to keep us growing and better serving our community.

A word of thanks to everyone on the Team working to advance our personnel through the training steps, we currently have over a dozen members working towards Aide and/or Driver status.  Keep it up, together we all grow.

Tami
