At 1830 hours on 9/29/20 EMT M. Newman noticed the Auxiliary shed was not secured. President Bulla contacted Auxiliary President Wade to take appropriate action. At 2007 hours on 9/29/20, the Aux Pres reported the door handle had be broken by someone apparently banging on it. A temporary clasp and lock was applied to secure the shed. Nothing appeared to be missing, however it was a cursory/low light search of items present.
Wood chips were visible when the door was opened and it was evident that the handle chipped up the wood on the inside plate to force entry.
The Auxiliary will inventory the shed during daylight hours and file a police report if warranted.
Personnel should be mindful of property security and immediately report any suspicions subjects or observations.

Fwd: EMS Glove Use

There is a case of non-medical gloves that I placed in the station alerting closet this morning. Grainger accidentally sent these a month or two ago. They should be ideal for cleaning purposes for a while.

Subject: EMS Glove Use

28 September 2020

Background.
As you are all aware the COVID19 pandemic put a serious pinch on the global PPE supply chain. In March, we foresaw a shortage of nitrile medical gloves and ordered a million pairs.  It is now October and we have nearly exhausted that supply. The marketplace has not yet fully recovered and our vendors advise that gloves will be in short supply until at least 2022. That said, it is important that we implement some conservation measures now to avoid future shortages of this critical piece of PPE.

Task.
To implement reasonable measures immediately to reduce the burn rate of exam gloves in order to prevent future shortages.

Reason.
It is increasingly difficult to secure a consistent supply of exam gloves.

Assessment.
The are two main issues of importance to the current exam glove burn rate:

  • The increased number of incidents where two pairs of exam gloves are indicated.

  • The continued use of exam gloves for non patient care scenarios.

Constructs.

  • In order to reduce the demand for exam gloves they must only be used for direct patient care.

  • The organization recognizes that there are various other reasons for using a glove as a barrier for other materials such as hydrocarbons during apparatus checks. Station officers are encouraged to use the normal station supply system to procure gloves that are not medical grade (such as vinyl gloves) or even to procure reusable kitchen type gloves for routine uses around worksites.

  • It is important for leaders to monitor the situation and take steps as necessary to remind their teams of this new mandate.

  • We recognize the impact on daily operations however we believe that there are many options available to mitigate other exposures.

Endstate.
The burn rate of exam gloves is significantly reduced and MCFRS is able to maintain a supply.

- Re-racked the 3" Hose. If the gated wye is not placed on its side when wrapping it, the ball valve handles will be in the way of the 4" Supply line and the 3" on the other side.
- The other bed of 3" was also re racked. I have seen it racked different ways so I re-racked it the way it was this morning (Flat Loaded with Male coupling on top for connections). We attached a double female with a blind cap to the male coupling that is found at the end of this load. The thought was that if supplying a connection, take the double male off and use it like before. If the connection is damaged or unavailable you have an easy method to hook into the lowest riser. Also the weight of this extra coupling seems to make the hose ride a little better and not fall over. If someone could confirm exactly how they want the 3" racked, I'll update our cheat sheet. Thanks

New RS715

The following are open items on the new squad that we're already aware of:
  • Speakers are not yet installed for the mobile radios. The headsets do work though.
  • Compartment R2 needs a replacement cable for opening and the right slide out end trimmed.
  • The cribbing compartment tray needs to be reinforced as its bowing slights.
  • The wiring in the rear winch compartment near the hook and eyelet needs to be protected.
  • There are some edges in the extrication compartments that need protection.
  • The lifting cylinder mounts need to be more substantial or a strap added.
  • The aggressive downshift on the transmission needs to be programmed off, it fights with the telma and jake brake at higher speeds and wasn't supposed to be enabled.
  • The harrison system flow needs to be calibrated. This will likely make the tools run slightly faster.

Hey,

Here is an update on the monitors at 15.

Purvis confirmed a bad monitor. They also moved the good monitor from between the engine and truck (since the bay door company was working in that area) to the bad monitor location. Purvis is getting me a quote to replace the defective monitor.

Thanks
